The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) points out that some prepaid cards may charge fees based on variables such as, the way funds are loaded, usage, or for other transactions, like checking the prepaid card’s balance. When a prepaid card transaction is approved, funds are deducted from the available balance. You may have seen the term “prepaid credit card,” but the common terms are “prepaid card” or “reloadable card” when referencing a card with pre-loaded funds. But unlike credit cards-which allow cardholders in good standing to “buy now, pay later”-when you use a prepaid card, you can use only as much money as available on the card. You might use a prepaid card just as you would use a credit card, including inserting it into a terminal or keying it into a website’s checkout page. The back typically includes a security code and, potentially, the cardmember’s signature. Both show the logo of the major card issuer, the account number, and may include a chip on the card’s front. How do prepaid cards work?Īt first glance, it’s tough to distinguish between a prepaid card and a credit card. Because you determine the value of the card based on the amount of money you load onto it, prepaid cards may inherently limit overspending behavior.ĭespite their similarities, prepaid cards are not credit cards in the traditional sense.Like a traditional credit card, you may be able to use prepaid cards to shop online, over the phone, or in stores. They might eliminate the need to carry cash.Prepaid cards can offer several benefits: Prepaid cards don’t help you build a credit history. Prepaid cards don’t require an application or personal information. Unlike a credit card, a prepaid card must be loaded with funds before it can be used for purchases.

We've been working together on this for a while and we're glad to finally share it, with a debut at SAGE 2016. The 3D Sonic engine and the gameplay driving this vision was created by my programmer fellow Murasaki. I created all of the models, animation, and most of the textures and sound, as well as the music. Nearly everything in this demo, from art to sound to the gameplay engine, was made from scratch. Sonic Utopia is an experiment that not only tries to expand on Sonic gameplay in an intuitive way in 3D, but also aims to capture the best of Sonic's style and tie it together in a cohesive experience. Since hail can cause the rainfall estimates to be higher than what is actually occurring, steps are taken to prevent these high dBZ values from being converted to rainfall.BENSALEM, Pa., J/PRNewswire/ - Law Offices of Howard G. Hail is a good reflector of energy and will return very high dBZ values. These values are estimates of the rainfall per hour, updated each volume scan, with rainfall accumulated over time. Depending on the type of weather occurring and the area of the U.S., forecasters use a set of rainrates which are associated to the dBZ values. The higher the dBZ, the stronger the rainrate. Typically, light rain is occurring when the dBZ value reaches 20. The scale of dBZ values is also related to the intensity of rainfall. The value of the dBZ depends upon the mode the radar is in at the time the image was created. Notice the color on each scale remains the same in both operational modes, only the values change. The other scale (near left) represents dBZ values when the radar is in precipitation mode (dBZ values from 5 to 75). One scale (far left) represents dBZ values when the radar is in clear air mode (dBZ values from -28 to +28). Each reflectivity image you see includes one of two color scales. The dBZ values increase as the strength of the signal returned to the radar increases. So, a more convenient number for calculations and comparison, a decibel (or logarithmic) scale (dBZ), is used. Reflectivity (designated by the letter Z) covers a wide range of signals (from very weak to very strong). "Reflectivity" is the amount of transmitted power returned to the radar receiver. The colors are the different echo intensities (reflectivity) measured in dBZ (decibels of Z) during each elevation scan. Update: There has been a lot of awesome conversation in the comments about the difference between responsive and adaptive design. While it might be difficult to adapt a website on all the various devices out there, there’s a roundup of device-specific media queries you can refer to. That means our containers should be fluid (as in using percentages as unit measures), the assets we serve should be flexible (as in serving the right assets to right devices at the right time) and our media queries defined where content breaks (as opposed to the width of a specific screen size, say iPhone).Ĭompare that with an adaptive way of thinking, which is neither fluid nor flexible, but looks for specific points at which to adapt. This thinking challenges us to create sites that shift context according to how a site is being consumed on any given occasion. Responsive design is a means of becoming device agnostic in the sense that it seeks to create an optimized experience for any screen. Notice the operative words fluid and flexible. Rather than quarantining our content into disparate, device-specific experiences, we can use media queries to progressively enhance our work within different viewing contexts. Let’s consider the crux of Ethan’s original definition of responsive web design:įluid grids, flexible images, and media queries are the three technical ingredients for responsive web design, but it also requires a different way of thinking. You might even think of it as a difference in philosophy. The difference between responsive and adaptive sites goes a little deeper than the simple examples above. Notice how the responsive example flows with the environment whereas the adaptive snaps into place at a defined environment. This animation illustrates the difference in behavior: Responsive on top, Adaptive on bottom Adaptive design, on the other hand, snaps into place because the page is serving something different because of the browser or device it is viewed on. Responsive design is smooth because the layout fluidly adjusts regardless of what device it is viewed on. See the Pen Adaptive Example by CSS-Tricks ( on CodePen.Īnother way to think about it is the difference between smooth and snap design. In other words, the website is only concerned about the browser being a specific width, at which point it adapts the layout. See the Pen Responsive Example by CSS-Tricks ( on CodePen.Īdaptive websites adapt to the width of the browser at a specific points. Is the browser 300px wide or 30000px wide? It doesn’t matter because the layout will respond accordingly. No matter what the browser width may be, the site adjusts its layout (and perhaps functionality) in a way that is optimized to the screen. Responsive websites respond to the size of the browser at any given point. Responsive sites and adaptive sites are the same in that they both change appearance based on the browser environment they are being viewed on (the most common thing: the browser’s width). So, with that, let’s look at the difference. The concept of a responsive website is one of the greatest CSS “tricks” in the books and important enough to step back from in order to both remind ourselves what makes a “responsive” website and how it’s different from an “adaptive” one. Responsive web design has become a household term since it was coined by Ethan Marcotte on A List Apart in 2010 so much that we may take our understanding of it for granted. It’s also a common question I’m asked when teaching introductory web design. We see it pop up in the CSS-Tricks forums from time-to-time. This is a question that comes up more regularly than you might expect. Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer have been nothing short of elite since teaming up in Buffalo in 2017. No matter what, the Eagles will have turnover at safety after losing Gardner-Johnson and Epps this offseason. Brown - a rookie third-round pick - allowed a 27 QBR when targeted last season at Illinois. If they maintain their current level of play, the Eagles' defense will be mighty again, but it's no guarantee. They were elite a season ago, but corners are awfully finicky from year to year, and even stars can't always be relied upon. X factor for 2023: CBs Darius Slay and James Bradberry. Morrow and Edmunds are solid players who combined to play 1,892 snaps last season, and Dean has upside as a 2022 Day 2 draft pick, but it's a bit of a concern when your conference champion-winning defense loses five of its top nine snap-getters. At safety, Terrell Edmunds and Reed Blankenship are competing to replace Marcus Epps and C.J. Edwards and Kyzir White are out and will be replaced by Nicholas Morrow, Nakobe Dean and Davion Taylor. Weakest unit: Off-ball linebacker and safety (tie). Isaac Seumalo was the only offseason departure, but GM Howie Roseman was ready, having selected Cam Jurgens (Kelce's eventual replacement) in the second round of the 2022 draft. Four starters return, with Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson forming an elite duo at tackle, Jason Kelce back for one more season at the pivot, and Landon Dickerson locked in at left guard. Injuries have derailed his career, but it's hard to forget those numbers. In 2018, Ross led college football with an absurd 5.1 yards per route run. Considering who will be playing behind him, Smith's play will be extremely high leverage. walk in free agency and replacing him with Smith, who had the second-worst pass block win rate among tackles last season and the third-highest penalty rate among offensive linemen with at least 500 offensive snaps, was certainly a choice. Justin Reid, who replaced Mathieu and played 97% of the snaps last season, is a good starter, but the defense will be counting on journeyman Mike Edwards, second-year Bryan Cook or Day 3 rookie Chamarri Conner to step into the other starting role. The Chiefs said goodbye to Tyrann Mathieu after the 2021 season and moved on from Juan Thornhill this past offseason. At only 27 years old, Mahomes' dominant reign is far from over. He achieved all three of those last season - despite the 2022 offseason departure of elite wide receiver Tyreek Hill - cementing himself as the league's best player. Does this even need an explanation? Kansas City's franchise player, Patrick Mahomes, has already won league MVP, the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP two times each. The projected starting lineups below are via Clay's projections. We asked them to rate each roster based on the talent, age and production of the players, not taking into account how some coaching staffs can squeeze the best out of their talent. Clay's rankings are powered by his 2023 projections, which include detailed stats and score predictions for every team.Ĭlay detailed the strongest and weakest units for all 32 squads, while Walder picked X factors to watch and nonstarters to know across the league. We asked ESPN football analysts Mike Clay and Seth Walder to rank NFL rosters from 1 to 32, then combined rankings to come up with our list of the league's best - and worst. Which franchises retained their high-end talent from last season, added impact contributors in free agency and found potential starters in April's draft? And on the flip side, which teams actually are in worse shape than in 2022? With the NFL in a quiet period between post-draft minicamps and preseason training camps, it's time to reassess how all 32 teams built - and maintained - their rosters this offseason.
